Oppède le Vieux in the heart of the Luberon
Authentic medieval village, Oppède, and more particularly its old village, is worth the detour. Overlooked by the superb ruins of a 13th century castle, the town steeped in history is home to some well-kept treasures. The Romanesque collegiate church of Notre-Dame-d'Alidon is a little gem, the Sainte-Cécile gardens a delight, the old washhouses a real curiosity. Also worth discovering is the olive oil museum which will teach you a lot about this typical culture of the region.
